What are the membership privileges?

  • Members may use their name badge as a coupon for discounts with our society-partners (see our website www.mariansociety.com for our list of partners).

  • Members benefit from the society's prayers for one another.

  • Members may receive ministry formation from the society events, or Diocesan Sponsored opportunities.

  • Active members may use their attendance at MSOC events for renewal of Catechist Certification in the Diocese of Arlington (any level).

What do members do?

  • Members are invited to register (self-pay) for formation days, offered every-month during the school year.

  • Members are to pray for each other and the faith formation ministry of their parish and diocese, according to their state of life.

  • Members may submit special prayer intentions on our website, to be included in prayers when we gather at our meetings.

  • MSOC members will receive an e-newsletter every-other month.

  • MSOC members are encouraged to attain Catechist Certification. 

  • Members may participate in the annual MSOC Pilgrimage (near or far).

  • Members may participate in the MSOC annual retreat.

  • Members are to support their parish faith formation efforts by teaching and helping with parish events.

  • Members must register with the Diocesan Office of Faith Formation and pay the registration fee (there is a discount for certified catechists). This fee covers a name badge, which can be used to bear witness to our society.

What is active membership? 

  • Active members are to attend at least 3 formation days (self-pay) each year. There will be five meetings, including the Diocesan Catechetical Conference, each year.

  • Active members are to pray for each other and the faith formation ministry of their parish and diocese, according to their state of life.

  • Active members may submit special prayer intentions on our website, to be included in prayers when we gather at our meetings.

  • Active members will receive an e-newsletter every-other month.

  • Active members must work towards obtaining and maintaining catechist certification in the Diocese of Arlington.

  • Active Members will receive opportunities for advanced registration at Diocesan Catechetical Conference.

  • Active Members will have advanced registration for the annual MSOC Pilgrimage (near or far) and annual retreat.

  • Active Members are to support their parish faith formation efforts by teaching and helping with parish events.

  • Active Members will assist with an annual diocesan event/fun(d)raiser to raise funds to support the faith formation needs in the diocese. These funds may be used towards parish or diocesan initiatives to promote the faith.

  • Active members may vote on initiatives to support.

  • Active membership is determined by participation, there is no additional fee to be an Active Member.

Diocesan Sponsored Training Opportunities

Courses and Training Opportunities from these programs are approved for Catechist Certification and/or renewal.
